Temporary closure due to COVID19 pandemic

In a typical year, Spring is a time of renewal, growth, interaction, hope. Today in Amelia Island we have temperatures in the mid 80s and a gentle, caressing breeze. We should be anticipating the excitement of Spring business! But this is not a typical Spring and it is with heavy hearts that we announce the TEMPORARY closure of Burlingame Restaurant effective Saturday 21 March 2020 at 9:00pm.
Our reasons are several but really interlaced. Fundamentally, we are unsettled by our staff, ourselves, and our guests taking ANY additional risk of infection. For the few dollars generated from quite limited business it just isn’t worth the risks to our health. We have had extraordinary support this past week from many guests trying their best to help our little business survive. We love them and thank them whole heartedly!
Frankly, we have expected our national and state governments to make this call in the best interests of society and finally came to the realization that we didn’t need to wait. We just needed to find the courage. Maybe, if businesses close and individuals take seriously the need to separate to minimize spread of the virus, the period of intense risk will be shorter and less destructive.
Also, we didn’t want our beloved team members to waste any time in their efforts to find other work and/or apply for available benefits. It is our earnest hope that everyone finds income enough to tide them over. We hear that grocery stores etc are hiring and unemployment benefits are easier to apply for than ever before.
We are applying for emergency loans to help us cover ongoing expenses in the hopes of being able to reopen with vigor when this calamity finally passes. Of course, none of us can even guess how long that will be.
We intend to weather this disaster and reopen Burlingame when we can. Our dream is to have our entire staff rejoin us for our re-start (they are, bar none, the BEST crew in the business!) and hope our many guests will help us recover quickly.
Please support all your local, small, privately owned businesses so many can survive this trying time. They are the heart of community, the employers of millions, and we all need to remember that. Especially now.

Celebrate New Year’s Eve 2019 at Burlingame

We are offering sumptuous menu options for each guest to build their own 3 course prix fixe menu. Starter course options include Lobster Bisque, Mixed Greens Salad with Duck Rillette, or 1/2 dozen Oysters. Add optional Siberian Sturgeon Caviar for the perfect beginning to the meal.

Main course choices are Red Snapper, Diver Scallops and Beef Tenderloin or upgrade to Japanese A5 Wagyu for the ultimate in flavor. Add an optional 1/2 Lobster to any option.

Desserts include Grapefruit Curd, Chocolate Tart and Creme Brûlée

Special Encore of Winter Tasting Dinner

Burlingame’s Midwinter Escape Tasting Dinner on January 16th was such a hit we decided to repeat it on February 21st at 6:15 PM. Our guests told us this was our best tasting menu so far and we had to agree. Chef Chad composed five spectacular dishes and the wines complimented each perfectly. We just had to offer this menu again.
Chef Chad is offering a delightful menu of:
Amuse-Bouche of house-made sourdough, uni butter, radishes and chives
Beef Carpaccio with roasted beet and endive, bleu cheese, chimichurri, shallot marmalade, herb vinaigrette and toasted walnuts
Butter Poached Lobster with lobster & mushroom ravioli, cauliflower & watercress purée and puffed rice granola
Roasted Rack of Venison with celery root purée, red wine braised onions, glazed carrots and veal jus

Chocolate Custard with roasted banana ice cream, banana brûlèe, caramel sauce and Carolina Gold rice pudding

Wine pairings include Sparkling, Sancerre, White Burgundy, Syrah and Port.

Not-Your-Average wine dinner @ Burlingame 23 August

Join us at 6:30 pm Thursday 23 August for an exclusive and fun evening of unusual wine paired with exceptional dishes.

Pablo Alfaro, Florida Regional Manager of Pacific Southern Wine Company, will provide entertaining and expert commentary on the wine selections from PSWC’s portfolio. This is a “not-your-average” wine dinner with no Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, nor Cabernet Sauvignon in sight!  It’s time to try something fun and different!

Food pairings will be designed by our own Chef Chad Livingston to complement each wine. The event will be hosted on our deck under our louvered pergola and ceiling fans. Seating will be communal so you’ll be able to meet other fans of excellent wines and fresh, seasonal, made-from-scratch dishes.

Taste of Amelia Island 2017 & Best of Burlingame tasting dinners

The 26th annual Taste of Amelia Island is scheduled for Sunday October 1st and Burlingame will be there.  This annual event, to benefit the Nassau County Volunteer Center, promises to build on the excellent quarter century event from last year.  Many of the best restaurants on the island will be represented to provide a true taste of the cuisine of Amelia Island.  Chef Tom Gray of Moxie Kitchen + Cocktails will be Guest Judge to choose the Chef’s Choice Best Dish of Taste.

In addition to the Sunday night Taste, Burlingame will offer a Best of Burlingame tasting menu on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, September 28th to 30th.  Five fresh, seasonal, made from scratch courses are available for 90 dollars per person (tax & gratuity included) and can be paired with five wines for a total of 110 dollars.   Each night we will have 5 seatings at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30 and 8:00.  This is a bargain not to be missed!
