These strange times have presented many opportunities to reflect and we have found ourselves revisiting our reasons for opening Burlingame back in 2016. Our focusing trio of ideas has always been great food, good but unobtrusive service and a comfortable setting to dine with friends. We’ve had to adapt our style of service some and change our layout to accommodate social distancing but Chef Chad’s amazing culinary creations have remained the centerpiece of Burlingame. Thanks to our great staff, dear friends, and foodie followers we have remained healthy, open and fairly busy since restarting in May. We are truly grateful to have reopened – and stayed open – safely and successfully.
At his core, Chad is a creative soul. He needs to make music. He needs to renovate his house! And, he needs to exercise his creativity in his kitchen. We use tasting dinners as a vehicle for Chad to free his creative senses and share the results with people who love interesting food. The time has come for an Autumn Tasting Dinner – Thursday 12 November.
Chef Chad has created a magnificent five-course tasting menu featuring lamb tartare, local red snapper, dry-aged beef, scallops, and fried apple. Caviar and Japanese A5 Wagyu will be available upgrades. Chef has developed a couple of alternatives to enable pescatarians to enjoy five courses as well!
For this dinner, seating will be progressive rather than all-at-once. Parties may select their preferred time from 5:00pm to 7:30pm. No more than 10 guests will be seated per half hour. The price is $110 per person plus beverage, tax and 20% gratuity. We will be using the Deck and all interior dining areas to maintain safe spacing and hope you can join us for this special night out!

Burlingame has reopened following a six week closure for the Covid-19 emergency. Indoor seating is limited to 50% normal capacity and outdoor is at 100% normal capacity. All table spacing is at least six feet between tables. Bar seating is very limited.
Our team is taking all health considerations very seriously. We wear masks constantly and guests must wear mask at all times except while seated at their table. Our menus are single use paper and the beverage lists are sanitized between uses. Tables are also thoroughly sanitized after each party. Doors have foot pulls installed.

In a typical year, Spring is a time of renewal, growth, interaction, hope. Today in Amelia Island we have temperatures in the mid 80s and a gentle, caressing breeze. We should be anticipating the excitement of Spring business! But this is not a typical Spring and it is with heavy hearts that we announce the TEMPORARY closure of Burlingame Restaurant effective Saturday 21 March 2020 at 9:00pm.
Our reasons are several but really interlaced. Fundamentally, we are unsettled by our staff, ourselves, and our guests taking ANY additional risk of infection. For the few dollars generated from quite limited business it just isn’t worth the risks to our health. We have had extraordinary support this past week from many guests trying their best to help our little business survive. We love them and thank them whole heartedly!
Frankly, we have expected our national and state governments to make this call in the best interests of society and finally came to the realization that we didn’t need to wait. We just needed to find the courage. Maybe, if businesses close and individuals take seriously the need to separate to minimize spread of the virus, the period of intense risk will be shorter and less destructive.
Also, we didn’t want our beloved team members to waste any time in their efforts to find other work and/or apply for available benefits. It is our earnest hope that everyone finds income enough to tide them over. We hear that grocery stores etc are hiring and unemployment benefits are easier to apply for than ever before.
We are applying for emergency loans to help us cover ongoing expenses in the hopes of being able to reopen with vigor when this calamity finally passes. Of course, none of us can even guess how long that will be.
We intend to weather this disaster and reopen Burlingame when we can. Our dream is to have our entire staff rejoin us for our re-start (they are, bar none, the BEST crew in the business!) and hope our many guests will help us recover quickly.
Please support all your local, small, privately owned businesses so many can survive this trying time. They are the heart of community, the employers of millions, and we all need to remember that. Especially now.

We are offering sumptuous menu options for each guest to build their own 3 course prix fixe menu. Starter course options include Lobster Bisque, Mixed Greens Salad with Duck Rillette, or 1/2 dozen Oysters. Add optional Siberian Sturgeon Caviar for the perfect beginning to the meal.
